Math marks will decide JEE Rankings

The maths scores will be taken into consideration for deciding the ranks in the Joint Entrance Examination, according to the National Testing Agency which will be using the percentile formula.

More than 8.5 lakh students have given the JEE this year. The percentile form is stated to be a more scientific method for recording ranks rather than raw marks.

According to education experts, the maths marks will decide the ranking procedure. From the 11 toppers who have scored 100 percentile, the ranks will be decided according to who scored the highest in maths.

The Union ministry of human resource development stated that the NTA’s percentile formula is very scientific and is used in reputed educational institutions elsewhere in the world.

The second JEE will be in held April after the announcement of the final board exams.

The percentile formula has 100 percent for 331 raw scores, 99 to 90.1 for 330 to 121 raw score and below 50 percentile for less than 41 scores.

Students will be ranked based on the basis of the highest marks in the attempts of both JEEs.
