CLAT 2019 Notification, Dates, Eligibility, Registration, Syllabus:

National Law University Odisha, Cuttack (NLUO) will conduct Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) for the admission year 2019-2020. The CLAT 2019 will be coducted on May 12, 2019 (Sunday) in offline mode. The official schedule will be released shortly at clat.ac.in. As per the previous year trends, the law entrance examination will be held on May 12 in paper-pen mode. Law aspirants seeking admissions to 3 year/ 5 year Integrated LLB and LLM Programs in 19 NLUs and other private schools can apply online in January 2019.

This year, the CLAT will be conducted for admissions to as many as 20 NLUs with addition of Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur (MPDNLU). NLUO Cuttack has released an admission notification for the Common Law Admission Test on December 20, 2018. Further, the law aspirants will be able to fill the CLAT 2019 application form between January 1 and March 31, 2019.

Eligibility Criteria for CLAT 2019:

UG Programme:

  1. There will be no upper age limit for UG Programme in CLAT 2019.
  2. As regards minimum percentage of marks in the qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2), the candidates must have secured:
  3. Forty five percent (45%) marks in case of candidates belonging to Unreserved/OBC/Specially Abled Persons (SAP) and other categories, and
  4. Forty Percent (40%) marks in case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) categories.
  5. Candidates who are appearing in the qualifying examination in March/April, 2019 are also eligible to appear in CLAT-2019 online examination.
  6. The result of the qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2) shall be submitted by the candidate at the time of admission.

In case of equal marks, the break of tie shall be by the following procedure and order as under:

  • Higher marks in the component /section on legal aptitude in the CLAT-2019 exam;
  • Higher age;
  • Computerised draw of lots.

 PG Programme:

  1. The candidates must have minimum percentage of marks in the qualifying examination [i.e. LL.B./Five-Year Integrated LL.B. (Hons.)/any other equivalent exam] as under:
  2. Fifty five percent (55%) marks in case of candidates belonging to Unreserved/OBC/Specially Abled Persons (SAP) and other categories, and
  3. Fifty percent (50%) marks in case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) categories.
  4. The candidate must have passed/appeared in the final semester/final year examination of the qualifying examination on the date of his/her admission.
  5. In case of candidates who have appeared in the qualifying examination, he/she may submit his/her final result of qualifying examination within the time frame prescribed by the respective University/Institute. Till then such candidates may be given provisional admission.

In case of equal marks, the break of tie shall be by procedure and order as under:

  • Higher age;
  • Computerized draw of lots.
  • No upper age limit is prescribed for appearing in CLAT-2019.

Procedure for filling up the Application Form for CLAT-2019:

  1. The application form for CLAT-2019 shall be filled Online The online application form has to be accessed from the CLAT-2019 website (www.clat.ac.in).
  2. The candidates are first required to register themselves at the CLAT-2019 online application webpage by using personal e-mail ID and mobile number.
  3. To register an application, choose the tab “CLICK HERE FOR NEW REGISTRATION” and enter Name, Email-id and Mobile number.
  4. A Provisional Registration Number and Password will be generated by the system.
  5. An Email and SMS indicating the Provisional Registration number and Password will be sent.
  6. Use this Provisional Registration Number and Password to log in to fill the Online Application.
  7. The Name of the candidate and the parents should be spelt correctly in the application as it appears in the Certificates/Mark sheets/Identity proof.
  8. Any change/alteration found may disqualify their candidature.

 Documents for CLAT 2019:

The scanned copies of the documents to be uploaded by the candidates, adhering to the guidelines provided in the online application webpage, are:

1. Front facing passport size recent photograph
2. Signature of the candidate
3. The scanned copy of the certificate in PDF format issued by the competent authority to support the claim of Specially Abled Persons (SAP).

4. The original certificates/documents issued by the competent authority as specified in the brochure are to be submitted to the allotted University in the form and manner as specified by the respective universities at the time of admission.

5. The photograph and signature of the candidate need not be attested while submitting the Online Application Form.
6. The candidate can fill up the required details in the application form and save the same before finally submitting it.

Application Fee & Previous Years Question Papers Fee : 

1. General/OBC/SAP and other category candidates: Rs.4,000/-
2. SC/ST category candidates: Rs.3,500/-
3. The cost of previous years’ question papers is Rs.500/- (not included in the CLAT-2019 application fee of Rs.4,000/- or Rs.3,500/- as the case may be.)
4. The candidates themselves will have to bear the bank transaction charges for remitting the fee online

CLAT Answer Key 2019:

National Law University Odhisa, Cuttack will release the answer key of CLAT 2019 in the second week of May 2019 after the conduct of CLAT 2019. Candidates can cross-check their answers marked in the law examination and can get an idea of the marks to be scored. CLAT 2019 Answer Key will be available in online mode in two phases.

Firstly, the university will release the provisional answer key and then the final answer key of CLAT 2019. In case of any discrepancy, candidates can submit their grievances to the CLAT Committee when they open the online window for the same. After receiving all the objections and working on the same, NLUO Cuttack will release the final answer key of CLAT 2019.

CLAT Result 2019:

Candidates who will appear in CLAT 2019 will get to know their result of CLAT 2019 by the last week of May 2019. CLAT 2019 Result will mention the qualifying status, marks and ranks obtained in CLAT 2019.

CLAT Cutoff 2019:

After the declaration of the result of CLAT 2019, the CLAT Committee will release the cutoff for the candidates to seek admission in the law programmes. The CLAT cut off 2019 will be determined by the exam committee keeping in mind the result and merit list of the law entrance exam.

CLAT 2019 cut-off will depend on various factors including minimum marks, maximum marks, total number of test takers and number of vacant seats. Candidates will be allowed to participate in CLAT Counselling if they meet the cutoff of CLAT 2019. Let’s take a look here for the cutoff trends of the previous years

 Admission Procedure for CLAT 2019:

The admission to UG and PG programmes in participating universities under CLAT-2019 shall be completed through centralised online counselling conducted by the CLAT Office. The basis of allotment of seats shall be ‘merit-cum-preference.

The CLAT Rank, the order of preference given by the candidate in the CLAT application form and the category / categories selected by the candidate in the online application form and the number of seats and their division/break-up as available in each of the participating NLU.

CLAT 2019 Counselling:

Online counselling shall start after the declaration of CLAT-2019 results. The entire procedure shall be completed as per the CLAT calendar which is available on the CLAT website.
