Educational Qualification and Age Limit

The general age limit for the recruitment is 18 to 22 years, with applicable age relaxation for reserved categories as per the recruitment rules.

  1. For Navik (General Duty), candidates should have passed 10+2 with Mathematics and Physics from a recognised education board.
  2. For Navik (Domestic Branch), candidates should have passed Class 10 from a recognised board.
  3. For Yantrik, candidates should have the required Class 10 qualification along with a relevant 3/4-year Engineering Diploma, or the prescribed 10+2 and diploma combination, as specified in the recruitment notification.
  4. For Hygienist-I, candidates should have the prescribed Matriculation/ITI or equivalent qualification.
  5. Candidates should verify the exact qualification and date-of-birth requirements applicable to their selected post before submitting the application.

Indian Coast Guard Recruitment 2027 Selection Process

The recruitment process is conducted through multiple stages:

  1. Stage I – Computer-Based Examination (CBT)
  2. Stage II – Physical Fitness Test (PFT), Assessment/Adaptability Test, Medical Examination and Document Verification
  3. Stage III – Final selection-related procedures, final medicals and induction/training

Stage-Wise Exam Schedule

Stage I Exam Pattern

The Stage I examination consists of 100 objective-type questions carrying 100 marks, with a duration of 60 minutes. There is no negative marking.

  1. For Navik (GD), the examination includes Mathematics and Physics at the 12th-standard level, along with Reasoning, English and General Knowledge.
  2. For Navik (DB) and Hygienist-I, the paper covers Mathematics, English, Reasoning, General Science and General Knowledge at the prescribed level.
  3. For Yantrik, the examination includes questions from the relevant Engineering discipline, along with Reasoning, English and General Knowledge.

Physical Fitness and Medical Standards

Candidates shortlisted for Stage II must meet the prescribed physical and medical standards. The physical fitness test includes events such as:

  • 1.6 km running
  • Squats
  • Push-ups
  • Bent-knee sit-ups

The prescribed requirements vary for male and female candidates. Candidates should also satisfy the applicable height, chest, eyesight and other medical standards for their respective posts.
